Risk Assessment
Our team includes practitioners who have provided psychological services across a range of forensic settings, both Victoria and other jurisdictions and who are familiar with the complexities of working with participants involved in the justice system.
Our team has experience preparing reports for the courts, particularly for individuals supervised under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act and have provided expert evidence in County and Supreme Court matters, with a focus on forensic disability cases.
Comprehensive and Contextual Risk Assessment
We offer a range of forensic and risk assessment services, including:
- Pre-sentence reports
- Risk of reoffending assessments
- Behavioural risk assessments for participants involved in justice, child protection, or other complex systems
Our approach is comprehensive and person-centred. We use a combination of:
- Evidence-based risk assessment tools, including both actuarial and structured professional judgement instruments
- Clinical interviews with the participant
- Consultation with relevant stakeholders, such as support coordinators, family members, legal representatives, and other service providers
This allows us to develop a nuanced understanding of risk that considers the participant’s environment, history, and current supports.
Practical and Realistic Recommendations
We understand the importance of making practical, realistic recommendations that can be implemented within the participant’s existing support framework. Our assessments are designed to be useful, respectful, and grounded in real-world contexts, supporting both the participant’s wellbeing and the safety of others.
