Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

At Complex Psychology, we provide Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Our team of allied health clinicians are registered Behaviour Support Practitioners, ranging from Core to Advanced/Specialist levels and are committed to delivering high-quality, participant-centred services, tailored to each individual’s needs, goals and circumstances.

We have extensive experience supporting people with multiple and intersecting needs, including:

  • Cognitive disabilities such as brain injury and intellectual disability
  • Serious mental illness, including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Autism and other neurodiverse presentations

Our practitioners bring extensive knowledge and experience in working with individuals who present with complex combinations of these diagnoses. We take a holistic and strengths-based approach to behaviour support, considering not only the participant’s goals but also the quality of their environment, the supports around them, and the services with whom they interact.

The Complex Psychology team has extensive experience within forensic services, including forensic assessment and intervention. We understand the impact that forensic involvement can have on NDIS participants and approach risk in a sensible, professional and collaborative way. While we may address behaviours that include offending, our focus remains on working respectfully and constructively with each participant to promote safety and wellbeing for all.

Positive Behaviour Support generally needs to be included in a participant’s NDIS plan. However, we also provide services under alternative funding arrangements, including those within the forensic and child protection systems.
