Multiple and Complex Needs Initiative (MACNI)

Complex Psychology provides services under the Multiple and Complex Needs Initiative (MACNI), delivered on behalf of the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

MACNI is a specialised program established under the Human Services (Complex Needs) Act 2009, designed to support individuals who experience multiple and intersecting complexities. These may include any combination of:

  • Acquired brain injury
  • Intellectual disability
  • Serious mental illness
  • Serious substance dependence

MACNI is specifically tailored for individuals who also present with significant risk issues and where a coordinated approach to their support is required.

At Complex Psychology, our involvement with MACNI encompasses:

  • Assessment of client needs and the development of MACNI care plans
  • Care plan coordination

We work collaboratively with clients, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure that care is coordinated, responsive and aligned with the unique needs of each individual.

MACNI is built on the principle that effective support for people with complex needs requires a coordination and collaboration. Through structured care planning and interagency cooperation, MACNI aims to reduce risk, improve wellbeing, and enhance service access for those who might otherwise fall through service system gaps.

Complex Psychology brings years of experience to MACNI. Our team has developed deep expertise in navigating complex systems and delivering person-centred care across MACNI and other coordination programs.
